We pay our respects to the Gundungurra people who are the traditional custodians of the land, whose deepening connection to culture and customs have cared for this country for over 60,000 years.
We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded.

Louise Zhang’s Scholar Rock Portals marks Ngununggula’s first addition to its sculpture garden. The work is influenced by architectural elements in traditional Chinese Gardens and are a homage to the market gardens of Bowral which were established by early Chinese migrants to the Southern Highlands. Visually the work takes inspiration from Moon Gates, Lattice windows and Scholar Rocks. Chinese Gardens are purposefully designed, influencing the way one interacts with the landscape and this work is prominently positioned, allowing audiences to experience the landscape in new ways.
This project is proudly funded by Create NSW through the Visual Arts Commissioning Project.
Special mention to Tilt Industrial Design and Richard Crookes Constructions.
